The late Egyptian Hassan Fathi, who was famous for his unique architectural style, was inspired by his sources from Nubian rural architecture and from the houses and palaces of Old Cairo in the Mamluk and Ottoman eras. He was even influenced by them in his works, especially the village of Qurna that he built, inhabited by 3,200 families, part of the history of the popular building that he founded. He was also inspired by the Nubian heritage of the famous American architect Michael Revith, who supervised the designs of the Egyptian city of El Gouna in the Red Sea, where he based his designs on the authentic Nubian style, which attracts many tourists to it.
